The Canopy desk is a freestanding desk solution designed by KFi Studios with Gensler to help users concentrate in open-plan office environments without retreating into fully enclosed pods. The system pairs a height-adjustable sit-stand desk with an upholstered privacy hood that wraps over the top and partially down the sides of the workstation, softening ambient noise and reducing visual distractions while leaving the occupant connected to the larger space. Integrated lighting above the work surface can be dimmed or adjusted for video calls, and a continuous power and cable management system supports laptops, monitors and chargers without clutter. The partial hood and choice of upholstery, wood veneer or laminate finishes allow the station to be tuned between more open or cocoon-like experiences based on interior needs.
Canopy’s adjustable desk surface uses intuitive controls and a digital readout for ergonomic positioning. Optional occupancy sensors cut off lighting when the station is empty, contributing to energy-efficiency goals. Materials selected for the workstation include FSC-certified red oak, low-VOC laminates and CertiPUR-US foam, supporting sustainability without requiring specialised certification.
