Mónica Calderón Studio is a design label based in Mexico City and it recently introduced its Cala Resin collection full of home furniture and homeware pieces. The studio called upon a range of talents including several architects, artists, and designers to collectively create the capsule. Cala Resin is comprised of stout planting pots, tables, and stools. The styles of the furniture is a result of exploring polyester resin -- it is paired together with materials such as bronze, wood, and marble to create the striped and sleek finish.
Mónica Calderón Studio explains that to focus on one material allows for a different design in its structure, color, and finish. The resin is the material in this case, where everyone finds new possibilities with it to create a correlating line of products. The stool is set on a heavier black marble foundation and patterned with hues of orange and grey to create a blended look. The pots are made in the colors yellow, blue, and black -- all of which are molded to have a folded structure.
