The activated charcoal brownies from BLK//SUGAR were initially introduced as all-black Valentine's Day treats to be served alongside a charcoal cocktail from a nearby bar. As creator Krystal Mack says, "My whole process was thinking just like when people are heartbroken they turn to sweets and indulge in that way. If you’re trying to get over a lost love that you have, it can kind of detoxify your body of unwanted feelings."
