Inspired by a body of work that took 10 years to build, the "Film Electric" image series by Brea Souders defies convention. The set of portraits plays with its viewer's perception and creates bold collages from pieces of discarded photo film fragments.

Exploring a theme of static electricity, Brooklyn-based artist Brea Souders stays true to her signature aesthetic and creates photographs that combine different media forms and unconventional materials.

Her latest series was put together by chance as she explored her vast archives. Old negatives, bad exposures and film scraps are all included in this unique set of collages that are displayed on sheets of clear acetate. Often random, the combinations reveal colored hues and hidden photo fragments that are ambiguously scattered.
