Alsar Atelier and Oscar Zamorea Design the Bogotá Fog Catcher

Design studio Alsar Atelier works together with designer Oscar Zamora to create the new Bogotá fog catcher in Colombia. It is a project that is able to collect 200 liters of water on a weekly basis, going towards the local community. It uses a simple structure that is draped in fabric to do so and this was commissioned by community leader Caesaw Salomon to create more water sources for locals.
It is made up of a light steel frame and wrapped in a fabric plastic known as polisombra. The studio's founder Alejandro Saldarriaaga tells Dezeen, "The project also takes on a critical position on the traditional construction methods of the self-built environments of Bogotá, concrete and brick, and introduces a material that is easily assembled, durable, with short construction times, and more sustainable."
