The Blue Planet Aquarium is a recent project by design studio, 3XN. This grandiose structure is located in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark and is inspired by underwater life. Taking on the free-flowing shape of a whale, this public pavilion is a marine biologist's dream, sure to wow and educate its visitors.

Set to open in 2013, The Blue Planet Aquarium resembles an organic whirlpool that isoften found in streams of the sea. From its whale-like facade to its spiralling interior, this building is set to become Copenhagen's newest landmark.

3XN design studio created a curved sequence of spaces that house the pavilion's many functions. Fusing aesthetics with a purposeful sense of design, this sea-life space challenges traditional design ideals, straying from the banal and embracing the extraordinary.
