Secure Biometric Credit Cards

NatWest is Piloting a New Biometric Payment Card

A new biometric payment card has been announced by UK-based bank NatWest to offer consumers a more secure user experience when making purchases. The card has been created in partnership with MasterCard and Gemalto, and is being piloted with 150 of the banks customers to let them enjoy contactless payments up to £100 thanks to the fingerprint verification. The cards themselves are packed with all the necessary technology to maintain the biometric security, which makes them acceptable at all contactless and chip and PIN payment terminals.

The biometric payment card was explained further by Director of Innovation at NatWest Georgina Bulkeley who said, "After the successful pilot of our biometric debit card we are looking to test the technology further with credit cards. This is the biggest development in card technology in recent years and not having to enter a pin not only increases security but makes it easier for our customers when paying for goods or services.”
