Many cities around the world could benefit from Ines Le Bihan's simple and smart Bicycle Road. Bicycle Road is a portable bike path designed to take the hassle out of setting up designated bike lanes.
It may seem easy to get a bucket of paint out and draw a bike path, but it is actually far from it. As more and more bikers descend on the streets of cities originally built for cars, the issue of where to put bike lanes grows more contentious. The Bicycle Road would allow cities to experiment with bicycle lanes at a relatively small cost and with no commitment. The panels snap together using metal fasteners and appear to be made out of rubber. People living in crowded cities are increasingly relying more and more on bicycles to get around. This change in attitude could eventually force designs like the Bicycle Road into the forefront.
