Cultural mythologies and the deities that inhabit those stories make for an abundance of vivid inspiration and beautiful artwork. This latest collection by Betsy Walton turns those history forming tales and gives them a new sense of vitality. Culturally rich and aesthetically refined, these portraits each contain a narrative that originates from centuries of preserved history.

Commenting on her work Betsy Walton says, "My style is informed by a range of influences including Byzantine icon paintings, American folk art, geometric abstraction, and the work of many contemporary illustrators and painters."

In her portrait titled 'Pinnacles' we see a divine being sitting atop a hill facing an adjacent mountain. The combination between the parallel outline of the illustration and Betsy Walton's various forms of sketching creates an impressive portrait that is as absorbing as the story that inspired its creation.
