While virtual learning and working from home formats persist in some regions around the world due to the pandemic, Germaine Tan aims to make the classroom experience more tangible with the conceptual Berry-Like-Jumbo. The tabletop concept device aims to motivate students to do online learning by trying to recreate a typical in-person classroom experience.
The box-type device resembles the shape of a Bluetooth speaker. It uses IoT social presence to let users know their classmates' movements or activities. Motion sensors are used to inform others of their classroom activity, which is then portrayed through minimalist and easy-to-understand visuals. Some visuals include circle movement, circle fading, and mini dots that tell users how many times the user got up from their desks.
