BELDI is an Online Store Specializing in Moroccan Decor That Gives Back
Rebecca Byers — June 28, 2012 — Social Good
BELDI is an online store specializing in Moroccan home decor and accessories founded in 2011 by a couple who met in the infamous Djemaa el Fna square in Marrakech. In addition to offering traditional and authentic Moroccan home decor sourced at fair prices in Marrakech, BELDI pledges to donate 20% of its profits to charities, like the SOS Children’s Village in Ait Ourir, within the North African nation.
The BELDI website stocks unique items like hand carved lemon wood utensils, boucherouite rugs and glassware made from recycled glass, a rarity in modern Marrakech.
BELDI is also founded in the couple's belief in preserving the Moroccan culture and bringing it to a wider audience. Chafiq Ennaoui and Aimee Bianca believe in both preserving the handmade traditional crafts and giving back to the local communities where the culture was born.
