For millennia, people have looked up at the stars and wondered at their majesty, and the Bec Brittain x John Hogan lighting collection on display at NYCxDESIGN shows that just because we're living in a modern era, that wonder hasn't ceased. The elegant collection of lamps and chandeliers is inspired by celestial bodies in both structure and aesthetic.
In the Bec Brittain x John Hogan collaboration, Hogan was responsible for the glass bulbs while Brittain created the metal casings. Hogan was inspired in particular by the stars of the Aries system, and his bulbous and streaking designs play reference to that god of war. Brittain in turn needed to create entirely new formal languages for the architecture of her metal casings, and the final collaboration is thus a blending of those two bespoke ideas.
