In order to help people continue to play basketball in the city as it becomes more and more crowded, Volkswagen created 'Volksparking.'
Volksparking is a unique mobile basketball hoop that is set up along a track above a parking lot. With sensors, it is able to detect when a parking space is empty and sets itself up there so that a small game of basketball can be played between friends. When the space is about to become occupied by a vehicle, the smart hoop simply moves to another open parking space in the lot.
Since Volkswagen has always branded itself as the "People's Automobile," this initiative is a clever way to show that when space is used smartly, the city can be shared by all of its inhabitants fairly.
