The interactive Barbie Styled by Me retail experience recently launched in Shanghai following a successful first iteration at FAO Schwartz in New York City. While the New York City version at FAO Schwartz merely took up a floor of the famed toy retailer, the Shanghai activation was apart of the launch of the city's new House of Barbie store.
The House of Barbie store is an overwhelming retail experience marketed towards young girls and mothers that invites individuals to design their own Barbie doll. The process to creating a personalized Barbie is simplified by a computer interface that has a myriad of selections such as hair color, clothing and accessories.
This unique and highly interactive retail experience is similar to the very successful Build-A-Bear brand, while it also shows the relevance of providing customized experiences, even to the youngest of consumers.
