A Sydney-bases restaurant called Bar Luca recently gave actor Gene Wilder a memorable salute in the form of a colorful, rainbow burger. While the Instagram-worthy burger is not the first rainbow creation to capture the public's attention, it's connection to the 'Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory' star makes it stand out from other technicolor dishes.
The rainbow burger from Bar Luca was originally inspired by Wilder's love of the song 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow.' To mark the actor's passing, the restaurant took the famous song and translated it into a multicolored cheeseburger. The sandwich itself consists of a rainbow-hued milk bun topped with a beef patty, fried potatoes, tomato soup jelly, popping cheese, blueberry onion jam and a mysterious 'Wonka sauce.' To top off the tribute, the dish has been named the 'Beauregard Burger' after one of the characters in the famous film.
