NFC Chip-Embedded Trophies

The Golden Globe Awards Trophy Contains an Authenticating Component

While the design of 2017's Oscars award statuettes were created with 3D printing, the newly redesigned Golden Globe Award trophy that was created for this year's event now boasts an embedded NFC chip to ensure its authenticity.

Christian Bale and Olivia Colman were among some of the stars to receive the NFC-enabled Golden Globe Awards trophies on behalf of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Thanks to the addition of the near-field communication component, the trophies boast a modern touch that showcases the name of the winner, the category and the year the award was received.

The newly redesigned Golden Globe Award trophy also boasts a longer, leaner form and an opulent 24-carat gold-plated design that features a globe wrapped with a strip of film.
