Avantium and Bottle Collective have announced a new partnership that will see the two organizations working together to showcase dry molded fiber (DMF) technology for packaging.
The partnership will see Avantium utilizing its plant-based polymer polyethylene furanoate (PEF) into dry molded fiber bottle packaging to achieve fiber-made bottles. This would work well as a way to enhance barrier performance, while also maintaining the sustainable profile of the bottles. The Dry Molded Fiber technology from PulPack is used in tandem and reported to use less CO₂ than conventional wet molding and plastic.
Director Business Development at Avantium Bineke Posthumus spoke on the Avantium and Bottle Collective partnership saying, "Together with global brand partners such as Opella, Diageo, and Haleon, the Bottle Collective can fast-track the development of world-first Dry Molded Fiber bottles. Our polymer PEF can play a crucial role in enhancing the sustainability and performance of these bottles, offering superior barrier properties and mechanical strength. This partnership aligns perfectly with Avantium’s mission to create innovative, plant-based solutions that contribute to a circular economy.”
