'Suntory Group,' the leading global consumer packaged goods (CPG) company, has announced a successful prototype of a 100% sustainable PET bottle. A PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottle is a durable, lightweight, reliable plastic substance that is used widely across the CPG market. However, these bottles are not easily recyclable. Suntory Group is aiming to change this through a partnership with Anellotech.
Over the course of the last 10 years, Suntory and Anellotech have researched and developed ways of making products more sustainable. Recently, the company announced a new bottle made out of a combination of Anellotech and Suntory technology. The bottle is made from sustainable materials such as woodchips and molasses that have been processed to be food-safe and durable. Suntory announced this new bottle as a container for its 'Orangina' and 'Tennensui' beverages, which are two of the company's highest-profile products.
