New Mexico-based artist Alex Chavez describes his artistic influences as "low-brow, no brow, outsider goth pop, and surrealism," amongst others, and these divergent influences have coalesced to form a creepy aesthetic entirely his own.
As an artist, Alex Chavez received technical training at Cal State Fullerton, where he majored in fine arts. Initially a painter, Alex Chavez switched to mixed media art and collage art to further represent the inner recesses of his mind's eye. And what a fortiutious transition it was. As an collage artist, Alex Chavez has had his work exhibited in at art galleries all around New Mexico, and at the hip Limner Hudson Gallery in New York City.
Looking through his selected portfolio, it's easy to see why. Complex, creepy, and cool, Alex Chavez shines in his ability to create eye-catching art that toes the line of over-the-top surrealism without crossing it. Click through the gallery to see how his unique work is earning him accolades throughout the art world.
