Bent Metal Seating

Deniz Özdemir Developed the Arc One from a Single CNC-Bent Sheet Metal

Designer Deniz Özdemir created the Arc One lounge chair using a single sheet metal body formed through laser cutting and CNC bending processes. The chair eliminates welded joints, secondary framing, and mechanical fasteners by shaping one continuous metal surface into the backrest, seat, and base structure. Arc One was developed in Istanbul between October 2025 and February 2026 and later received an A’ Design Award recognition.

The Arc One structure pairs brushed metal surfaces with removable tufted leather cushions attached through leather straps and snap fasteners. Özdemir designed the bare metal frame to stack flat during storage and transport without additional disassembly components. The accompanying ottoman follows the same bent-metal construction method and uses a matching square leather cushion with interchangeable upholstery finishes. The chair and ottoman combine exposed sheet metal fabrication with replaceable leather upholstery components secured directly onto the metal frame.

Seamless Sheet-metal Furniture
Low-waste production using a single CNC-bent sheet eliminates welded joints and fasteners, reducing part count and simplifying assembly for scalable manufacturing models.
Flat-stack Transport Design
Compact flat-stacking of formed metal bodies dramatically lowers shipping volume and storage footprint, enabling more efficient logistics and distributed inventory strategies.
Interchangeable Upholstery Systems
Removable tufted cushions fastened directly to exposed frames create standardized interface points that facilitate customization, repairability, and material lifecycle management.

Where This Applies

Furniture Manufacturing
Fabrication processes centered on laser cutting and CNC bending allow manufacturers to reconfigure production lines around single-piece assemblies and lower tooling complexity.
Logistics and Warehousing
Products that stack flat and ship without disassembly reduce pallet space and handling requirements, transforming warehouse layout and transportation cost structures.
Commercial Interiors and Contract Furnishing
Durable metal frames with replaceable upholstery support long-term asset management, refurbishment services, and specification preferences for high-use public and corporate environments.
