Antique Children's Carousel Attractions

City Museum Embraces Whimsicality and Nostalgia

City Museum in St. Louis has unveiled the Antique Children's Carousel as a new attraction within its collection of whimsical and artistic pieces.

The Antique Children's Carousel is a hand-carved ride originally manufactured in the 1920s by the Allan Herschell Company and now fully restored and open to City Museum visitors. This 20-foot-diameter carousel features wooden horses and chariots crafted with the intricate detail characteristic of early 20th-century carnival equipment.

City Museum hosted an opening celebration to mark the entry of the Antique Children's Carousel within its creatively repurposed industrial environment. The event included period-appropriate entertainment such as stilt walkers and ragtime musicians. This was intended to evoke the atmosphere of historic amusement parks and enhance the sense of stepping back in time.
