These Amy Winehouse paintings titled ‘On Blood: A Portrait of the Artist’, is making news in the media and it hasn’t been long since the late singer’s death that’s less than a year ago.

What’s captivating about these paintings is the use of blood. Might sound shocking but the artistic practice has been around for some time. It’s called ‘arterial splatter’ where blood is used as a primary medium. Instead of paint brushes, the artists uses a syringe to squirt blood onto the canvas. The collection includes over 20 pieces of work created by Winehouse and Pete Doherty.

At an upcoming auction, Winehouse’s piece entitled ‘Ladylike’ is expected to sell for $128,000. Although this talented vocal artist is long gone, her paintings will continue to remind people of Winehouse and her short lived life.
