Alternation Brewing Company Created a Milky, Non-Dairy Beer Supporting Animals

Alternation Brewing Company recently launched an almond milk stout by the name of 'For the Animals' that boasts the same kind of creaminess as a traditional milk stout, but without lactose or dairy.
The unique new beer is made with an organic almond meal and organic almond extract for a nutty flavor. Since a traditional milk stout contains lactose, a sugar derived from milk, Alternation Brewing Company found an inventive way to mimic the beer style. As owner and brewer Brendan Pleskow describes, "we achieved the results through a high mash temperature and long boil to promote long-chain sugars and caramelization."
As its name suggests, the new vegan-friendly stout product supports local animal charities like the Broken Shovels Farm sanctuary.
