There is something oddly soothing about airport runways because they seem to either always be the starting point or ending point to your return to or departure from home.
You may have never given airport runways a second thought because from the ground level they seem to be very drab and disorganized. However, once you look at them from a different perspective, like from a bird's-eye view, you might change your mind. That's exactly what photographer Lauren O’Neil did for her 'Holding Pattern' photo series. The series is like a visual feast of patterns and textures of runways from around the world.
The unique aspect about this photo series is that she uses Google maps as her source and not actual photography of the landing strips of the airports.
