Shake Shack has announced that it will be testing out new straws and cutlery made from a material called AirCarbon, which is and made without synthetic plastics, glues, or PLA. The material can be recycled by consumers at home, and is also soil-degradable and ocean-friendly.
The burger chain plans to launch the test in a select few restaurants in California, New York, and Florida, before possibly releasing them on a wider scale if the test proves to be successful.
Shake Shack SVP of Supply Chain and Menu Innovation Jeffrey Amoscato spoke to the news, stating "We're always seeking new, innovative ways to become more sustainable as a business and continue our mission of Standing for Something Good, and that applies to the packaging and ingredients we use and their impact on our planet."
