The worst part of flying is often the inevitable trek through airport security but Oakland airport and Evolv are aiming to alleviate this stress with AI body scanners. Known as the Evolv Edge, these five-foot security gates utilize machine learning algorithms, facial recognition and a proprietary millimeter wave sensor to make screenings faster and more efficient. All of the tools work together to perfect these AI body scanners that are capable of assessing a person's criminal record and threat level.
These AI body scanners are set to be tested in Oakland International Airport and will hopefully streamline the TSA's existing security program. During its test, the Evolv Edge will be capable of scanning 600 people per hour, as people can simply walk through it without slowing down.
