The Bentel Brothers' Eyewear Presents Purely Aesthetic Glasses

New York City-based Bentel Brothers — a duo comprised out of Nikolas and Lukas Bentel, launched a pair of aesthetic glasses that serve no other purpose but to provide for an interesting photo opportunity. In fact, the design "partially obstructs the wearer's view." Cheerfully dubbed 'The Squiggle Glasses,' the product is inspired by the social media lifestyle — more specifically various Instagram face filters.

Bentel Brothers' cheeky eyewear presents a continuous and elongated wavy line. The duo stipulated in the project description that the aesthetic glasses are "only useful in order to pull off a graphic look." While the product does boast different frame options, 'The Squiggle Glasses' are a good example of how occasionally individuals opt-out of functional products and subscribe to the purely playful aesthetic of the unusable.
