Absurd design is one way to describe Misha Kahn's creations, otherworldly maximalism is another. The creative's 'Just Around the Bend' exhibition is currently on display at the M + B gallery in West Hollywood. The showcase puts the focus on a number of the designer's daring, boundary-challenging furniture — from the multi-colorful intertwined couch to the fur-boosting wall mirror.
With her absurd designs, Misha Kahn challenges form and harmony. Instead of subscribing to the user-friendly, clean-cut, contemporary furniture that is popular today, she engages in a "practice [that] is grounded in contradiction." The silhouettes of her pieces are deeply rooted in challenging the status quo and serve as an expressive tool that enables imagination and involves objects with a character that is "constantly evolving [in] personality."
