GK Energy secured a ₹235.92 crore contract from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited to deploy 10,000 off-grid DC solar-powered water pumping systems (SPWPS) under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana. The project includes 3 HP, 5 HP and 7.5 HP agricultural pumps and is designed to expand solar-powered irrigation across Maharashtra.
The contract covers the design, manufacture, supply, transport, installation, testing and commissioning of the pumping systems, with completion scheduled within 60 days of the notice to proceed. The standalone solar-powered pumps are intended to reduce farmers' reliance on grid electricity while supporting more reliable irrigation for agricultural operations.
The large-scale deployment strengthens rural access to renewable energy while helping reduce conventional power use in farming. The initiative also reflects the growing adoption of decentralized clean energy infrastructure to improve agricultural resilience and support more sustainable irrigation practices.
