36 Social Enterprises in Uganda

From Purpose-Based Marketing to Global Microfinance Networks

— June 7, 2013 — Social Good
From purpose-based marketing companies with non-governmental organizations as clients and global microfinance networks, some of these social enterprises in Uganda are based there and others simply work there in a traditional charity type of way.

A few examples include 'Social Enterprise Africa,' a umbrella organization and community interest company (CIC) that is based and works in Uganda and attempts to train young people to start enterprises of their own. A popular and holistic enterprise -- one that received publicity on GOOD -- is D-Rev, a design-focused technology incubator tha does work around the world including Kenya, Iraq, Haiti and Nepal. These social enterprises in Uganda attempt to address a wide variety of relevant issues in the landlocked country located in East Africa.
