Raikes believes that values are at the core of every leader, because those values that are important for the environment that leaders are responsible for.
Starting with the work ethic garnered at a young age on the farm, Raikes discusses his constant contribution to making the family farm work. According to Raikes, this drove his passion for what he did because he had a responsibility for living things on the farm, livestock and crops. His efforts mattered, which then spilled over to his management style.
