Pony.ai and Uber Will Scale Its Robotaxi Deployment

Pony.ai and Uber expanded their strategic partnership, with plans to scale the Uber robotaxi deployment in Europe to more than 2,000 vehicles across additional European cities beyond the companies' existing Zagreb service. The expansion also includes plans to deploy in the Middle East, building on a joint deployment model that combines Pony.ai's Level 4 autonomous driving technology, Uber's platform and local fleet operations for day-to-day service.

Pony.ai already operates paid, fully driverless robotaxi services across China's four tier-one cities and has achieved citywide break-even unit economics in multiple markets. The Zagreb launch, developed with Croatian mobility company Verne serving as the local fleet owner and operator, marked Europe's first commercial robotaxi service and established the operational template for this broader rollout.
