The Paviljong Rosendal explores light and shadow through wooden form by presenting a glulam and polycarbonate structure that filters daylight with subtlety. Installed permanently at Rosendals Trädgård in Stockholm, the pavilion was designed by In Praise of Shadows Arkitektur in collaboration with Folkhem and Svenskt Trä. Its slender glulam frame supports translucent panels that diffuse sunlight, creating a serene play between illumination and architectural rhythm. The design draws inspiration from Swedish dance halls and Italian iron pavilions, merging traditional typologies with contemporary timber construction.
Prefabricated in Skellefteå using modular methods, the pavilion emphasizes efficiency and sustainability. It has been exhibited in several locations before finding a lasting home in Stockholm’s urban garden. Today it functions as a gathering space for workshops, community events, and moments of reflection. By focusing on refined materiality and filtered light, Paviljong Rosendal demonstrates how architecture can transform simple structures into atmospheric cultural landmarks.
