Recycled Lighting Designs

The NYTT LYS collection showcases lighting pieces crafted from discarded objects such as recycled metal, timber offcuts and repurposed household items. The designers highlight the visible marks, textures and irregularities of each component to preserve the history of the materials rather than conceal it. Weld lines, patina and worn surfaces contribute to the character of the lamps, and the forms are shaped with minimal alteration so the original identity of each element remains part of the final design. The approach emphasises authenticity and demonstrates how waste can be transformed into functional objects without losing its narrative value.

The collection includes floor lights, table lamps and smaller sculptural fixtures that explore how reclaimed materials can support ambient lighting. The pieces use textured surfaces to cast soft shadows and create atmosphere rather than relying on high brightness. The project shows how sustainable design can merge practicality with storytelling, offering prototypes that rethink how everyday waste can be reused in creative contexts.
