The Grain Pile Show by Max Radford Gallery X Ercol Reimagine Furniture

The Grain Pile show by Max Radford Gallery x Ercol brings together six emerging designers who rework Ercol’s furniture archives into new pieces for London Design Festival. Designers including Andu Masebo, Eddie Olin, Joe Armitage, Jaclyn Pappalardo, Isabel Alonso, and Lewis Kemmenoe explored stools, chairs, low tables, cabinets, and a rocking chair while experimenting with materials, finishes, and proportions. Some works use off-cuts and production "seconds" to reduce waste, reflecting a sustainable approach.

Other contributions play with signature Ercol forms in unexpected ways, from patchwork patterns applied to rocking chairs to tables composed of geometric fragments. Displayed within a disused fire station in Clerkenwell, the pieces are staged against a raw backdrop that contrasts with the refined craftsmanship. The project illustrates how heritage design can inspire new creativity, showing that historical furniture typologies can be adapted into fresh, relevant objects for contemporary living.
