Ogmma Designs the Empírea Series of Furniture

Mexico City-based design studio Ogmma designs the new Empírea series, which is made up of a chair and table to match. It is inspired by one of the most notable symbols globally: the cross. It is a representation of a plethora of things including culture, spirituality, and religion.

Technically, it is also able to add structural support to designs and it means to represent the concept of opposites that are closely connected. This includes earth and sky, good and evil, day and night, and so forth. The studio explains that "We find important similarities among verticality, which can be the history and knowledge in an artisan’s lineage, and horizontality which allows us the use, application, and learning of contemporary technologies."
