Studio Andrew Trotter and Marcelo Martínez Design the Casa Soleto

Architecture firm Studio Andrew Trotter and its own studio manager Marcelo Martínez design the Casa Soleto. It is a home located in Puglia, Italy, which dates back to the 17th century. The new renovation is led by lime plaster, terrazzo, and furniture that has been collected from a monstery. The house features four bedrooms with some parts of the home retaining traditional features that are over four centuries old.

The refreshing new take ensured that no structural changes were made to preserve the building with the exception of the redone roof, which was falling apart. Martínez speaks about the project to Dezeen, stating that "We tried to use natural materials as much as possible. We used lime plasters to give a natural and raw feeling to the walls, terrazzo floors – battuto alla veneziana – in the areas where new floors had to be made, wooden windows and doors seeking to imitate the original ones, cast iron hardware and linen sofas."
