A Simple Addition expands a London home through a full-width rear extension by OEB Architects that replaces the back of a semi-detached Victorian cottage with a single open structure. The new volume stretches across the full width of the property and uses the length of the rear garden to add a large multifunctional living space. The extension is constructed with a timber ceiling, painted blockwork walls, and a concrete floor selected for durability and low maintenance. Large glazed openings connect the interior directly to the garden.

Inside the original house the staircase was reoriented to improve circulation through the plan. A new ground-floor bathroom was added alongside a courtyard garden and a compact shower room was installed on the first floor. The reconfiguration increases usable living area without altering the original footprint of the home.
