With companies such as Facebook and Snapchat aggressively chasing YouTube's main audience, the popular video platform has rolled out its very own YouTube messenger.
The new chat option is part of the latest YouTube app update and it allows users to keep offline discussions about different video clips online without the need to copy and paste links into emails and text messages. Instead, users can now chat about and share YouTube clips will friends directly in the app. More specifically, the native sharing feature will allow friends to start conversation threads about popular videos so that users never have to leave the YouTube app to discuss their favorite moments.
The new chat feature is designed to promote further engagement with the YouTube app by giving users a in-app platform for interacting with the content they are viewing.
