Youth L.E.A.D. Miami Educates Students On Food Justice Issues

Founded in 2009, Youth L.E.A.D. Miami is a “food justice” organization that educates, empowers, and employs middle and high school students from underserved communities in educational programs that foster sustainable food practices. Youth L.E.A.D. Miami’s goal is to establish a coalition of passionate youth activists capable of addressing food and environmental injustices in underserved communities such as their own.

Youth L.E.A.D. offers several different programs and services: a four-month after-school program, paid apprenticeships for teens, community outreach and research, and cooking classes. These programs increase the students’ access to healthy food and green spaces while introducing them to eco-friendly habits.

Notably, Youth L.E.A.D. calls the Lab Miami campus home.
