With the startup and technology scene flourishing in Africa, the Yazo app is one venture in particular that is gaining momentum. The Uganda-based app has been called the country's Uber-inspired solution to laundry and goes a long way in terms of democratizing much needed opportunities for work.
The Yazo app was created by Nicholas Kamansi and several of his peers, who realized they needed a cutting edge solution to connect individuals with local laundry services, a practice that has been around for a long time anyway. The unique technological solution is already considerably popular, using location detection and social ratings to match clients and service providers.
Yazo, which is Luganda for "to wash," has already helped the nearly 150 women signed up as service providers double their income thus far.
