Woxsen University Launches a New Tool to Help with Surgeries

Researchers from Woxsen University have designed new artificial intelligence robots that help doctors perform surgeries with more accuracy. Instead of being trained using conventional materials like plastic and metal, the robot is engineered using biodegradable components inspired by nature—specifically, spider silk and exoskeleton structures. These organic materials not only offer extraordinary strength and flexibility but also decompose naturally, dramatically lowering the ecological footprint of surgical tools.

Notably, the system still relies on human control, allowing surgeons to take over manually if required.

"We are building the future of surgery—where sustainability, artificial intelligence, and human expertise converge to redefine patient care. This system is more than a technological milestone; it’s a vision of how healthcare can evolve responsibly and equitably," said Dr. Hemachandran K, Director of the AI Research Centre.
