This structural development by architecture firm Perkins + Will and local company Delta Land Development is said to be "the world's tallest hybrid wood tower." Envisioned to occupy a space near Vancouver's Burrard Slopes neighborhood, the project displays a cross-over between contemporary aesthetics and environmental cues.
The wood tower will contribute to the city with offices, around 200 residential apartments, as well as shops and restaurants. The silhouette of the building boats a U-shaped base, while the use of wood is accented throughout the structure to provide for a more earthy vibe. In addition, Perkins + Will recognize the importance of introducing sustainable design. As a result, the structural system of the wood tower embraces "a hybrid approach in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions."
