Wooden Nail Sculptures

Jaime Molina Uses Wood and Nails to Create Her Imaginative Characters

Jaime Molina is an artist from Denver, USA, who has been crafting creative human sculptures using wood and nails.

To start, she takes deteriorated pieces of wood that she sculpts to the right shape. Once this is done, she paints the material to her liking, providing the base with a saddened human facial expression. She then gives the creations thick hair and beards by covering them in nails that differ in shape and size. The sculptures vary, however each shows the people made from wood and nails with a similar dispirited look.

Included is the sculpture of a man sitting down somberly, with hands clasped over one another and featuring a head that's almost entirely covered in nails. Certain pieces open up to reveal a simplified wooden skeleton of the faces as well, making Jaime Molina's work even more intricate and impressive.
