Kerlink introduced the Wirnet iStation M2 gateway, a new-generation outdoor LoRaWAN gateway designed for extreme remote locations and smart-city, metering and agriculture deployments, featuring ultra-low power consumption and built-in edge processing. The M2 is built on the Semtech SX1302 LoRa core and supports SF5/SF6 spreading factors for faster modulations and higher cell capacity while adding twice the demodulators to boost throughput.
Hardware highlights include compatibility with a Kerlink solar kit delivering about 10 days autonomy, four internal antennas plus an external LoRa antenna, 4G/5G, Wi‑Fi and ethernet backhaul, an i.MX 8XLite CPU for local data handling and on-board radio diagnostics for RF optimisation. Security measures include SecureBoot, SecureStorage and encrypted links, and the unit is manufactured in France.
For operators and integrators, the M2 reduces reliance on constant backhaul by enabling edge compute in low-power sites, easing deployments on islands, mines and remote farms and supporting scalable IoT rollouts while integrating with major LNS providers.
