A group of engineers and researchers working out of Oak Ride Laboratories are working on developing an exceptionally futuristic and impressive wireless car charger system, as part of a collaboration with Toyota, Cisco, Evatran and Clemson University, that could have huge ramifications for the electric car industry.
This wireless car charger system is capable of a power output of as much as 20 kW whilst also managing to promise the ability to operate at a rather impressive efficiency rate of 90 per cent. The system incorporates a number of high-tech components that include an isolation transformer, vehicular electronics and an inverter.
Ultimately, this ultra-efficient and reliable wireless car charger system technology could have the effect of making electric cars appeal to more people, something that can only be a good thing.
