Italian bicycle manufacturer OML has developed a new and innovative braking system, simply dubbed the Wire Brake, that is designed to appeal to the minimalist standards of riders of fixed-gear bicycles. This contraption essentially manages to replace two brake levels with a single plastic-housed wire.
Besides appearing non-conformist and unabashedly urban, the Wire Brake also has some other desirable attributes -- it has far fewer pieces than typical dual brake levers and is also extremely lightweight, inexpensive and less prone to damage. As an added bonus, it also works in conjunction with any kind of cable-activated brakes.
The Wire Brake will surely appeal to hipster cyclists in that it allows them to continue riding fixie bikes but with added functionality.
