Willy Chong is an artist that comes from a dual background of both Chinese and Swedish ancestry. For his latest art piece, he decided to commemorate this interesting heritage with a modern design featuring a paper shelf with a silk accessory.
The paper shelf references the history of China, and how many years ago the invention of making this material led to how stories were passed down from generation to generation. The paper used here is laminated, which makes it strong enough to hold books or other lightweight items. For the silk, the practice of making this material actually originated in China, but the Swedes did attempt to make their own in the 17th century with not a whole lot of luck.
