Freddy Mamani has been focusing on emerging urban aesthetics and introducing a great deal of color to the city of El Alto through his whimsical architecture. For the last 18 years, the architect has been shaping the character of "one of the youngest cities in Bolivia."
El Alto is located just outside of La Paz and has been coming to its own in the last three decades. Fredi Mamani's whimsical architecture definitely make a statement and outspokenly communicates the vibe of the town. The aesthetics prior to rapid urbanization boasted "traditional adobe mud bricks and similarly hued modern versions." The architect's project definitely creates a point of interest for tourists, while inserting an uplifting character to El Alto. He is calling it "New Andean Architecture."
