Social Distancing-Friendly Office Spaces

WeWork Debuts New Virus-Safe Office Concept

Office rental space company WeWork recently debuted a new proposal for a new working environment post-pandemic that will aim to keep users safe and apart. The new concept consists of three main factors: prioritizing personal space, distributing the workforce, and increased sanitization.

WeWork's proposed solution for private offices is to include a 'buffer seat,' which essentially mandates that every other chair is left empty in alternating patterns, so no one is seated directly beside or behind another person to allow a distance of 6 feet. In terms of lounging, all seating is spread apart with designated empty seats. In addition, movement would be restricted to one-way circulation paths to avoid bottlenecks. Lastly, WeWork proposes adding complementary sanitization stations for all high-touch areas including wipe dispensers.
